Heretic, great explanation. You cited many reasons why I think those capes shouldn't be introduced. Mordred, they were released 18 october 2006, which is after the cut-off date.

Capes were added in the 2nd half of 2006 in Runescape, and this is a 2006 remake right? I'm in support of this idea and considering its a x1 server capes won't be easy to get and it will actually be a rewarding item to get.

It will definitely motivate everyone and there would be larger amounts of people grinding, which would mean more players overall.

Same

Perhaps only a few of them should be added, and only for difficult skills.
But support.

Another issue is bragging. People with capes of accomplishment tend to be proud of their ability to click, and the showing off and bragging quickly become old.

Too many people waste their time grinding to a goal either to achieve it and not know what to do afterwards, or to fail to achieve it and quit because the game seems dull due to the fact that they haven't advanced in any other skill or added any kind of variation to their routine.

Capes of Accomplishment are good on paper, but actual implementation is poor. People should train a skill to high levels because they like the skill, not because they want a cape.
If people can't afford resources that they 'need' then it's up to them to get it themselves. And if people are competing for resources, that's great because it strengthens trade.

Even without capes people can brag because the hiscores exist...

That's true even without capes.

Nobody trains a skill to high levels because they 'like' it. They do it because either
A) They need a certain skill level to achieve something else
B) They want to be on the hiscores or have a cape, it's the same thing
C) They want a 99.
If you think about it, there's really no reason to get most skills to 99. For example, with 90 Slayer you have the ability to slay all the monsters and use all the equipment.
